We had a pleasant weekend trip, the 18th and 19th of October, to Barbaresco which is only about 30 minutes from where we live.
It was the annual tasting of the wine for which the town was named. There were about 50 producers represented there but only about half of the actual people from the cantine were at the tasting. Quite disappointing. But let us be very serious...if we go to a tasting and the producer or one of his/her people is not present, we have no way of contacting them for a follow-up because there is usually no business card or brochure nor were we able to make an initial decision on the wines.
As usual, following is the list of those whose offerings we thought worthy of a visit to their facilities and for us to write about after the visit. We were asked many times during the tasting who our favorites were and we are quite sure that some of you would like to know who they were. We will try to answer this question diplomatically: the list is in alphabetical order. If you wish to know our favorites, write and we will reveal our preferences.
Azienda Agricola Bera
Azienda Agricola Cascina della Rose
Cascina Longoria
Fontanabianca
Azienda Agricola Luigi Giordano
Azienda Agricola Giuseppe Cortese
Azienda Agricola Grasso Fratelli
Azienda Agricola Lano Gianluigi
Azienda Agricola Montaribaldi
Poderi Colla
Massimo Rattalino
Azienda Agricola Roberto Sarotto
We hope to get to all of these producers before the next Piacere Barbaresco.
We will add Punset Winery (even though they chose not to be at the tasting) on a special request from the proprietors of the B&B we stayed in while at Piacere Barbaresco. Their daughter is the owner. Please note that we did not taste the wine.
